Hmmm… can’t quite recall, feel free to remind me. The chorus almost sounds like a rip-off of that one song, by those guys…. This is rarely seen music-wise, but “Werewolf, Baby!” was much more Lynyrd Skynyrd – esk with old rock melodies.

Zombie has repeatedly shown us with his cinema passions, he was certainly a child of the 70’s. Zombie gives listeners several toys to choose from.Īlthough most of the album starts with a eulogy with occasional creepy commentary from Sheri Moon Zombie, there was one song that seemed to get back to the roots of Rob’s inspiration. You don’t listen to a good rock album, you have fun with it, and Mr. The album starts off with a very quiet introduction, “Jesus Frankenstein”, before heading off into fast paced rock workout with “Sick Bubblegum” and my personal favorite, “What?” These two songs alone are what makes most Zombie fans quiver: fun rock candy with lyrics unconventional enough to forgive the guilt of your living room prancing.

Why such a long delay Rob? Although I must say the album was worth the extra three month wait, such a long delay was almost like burying the grave before putting in the coffin. Back in November, I got a sneak peak of Zombie’s delayed production during his Hellbilly tour.

BUT, for those of you who are expecting this album to be a sequel of the first Hellbilly, you will probably be disappointed. I guess that’s why Rob appropriately named his newest album “Hellbilly Deluxe” part deuce. In 2005, the album was re-released as a deluxe edition CD + DVD combo. Three singles were released for Hellbilly including Living Dead Girl, Dragula and Superbeast– all tracks that are still played by Zombie in his live shows. By November 4th the album had attained platinum status and by April of the following year multi-platinum. By September 29th, Hellbilly had already shipped over 500,000 copies which earned the album a gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America. The album debuted at number six on the Billboard 200 charts selling an estimated 121,000 copies in its initial weeks’ release. The album would also see guest drums from Tommy Leeof Motley Crue. New to working with Zombie was Blasko who came on to play bass and Mike Riggs who played the guitar. Personnel for the album included John Tempesta on drums who had joined White Zombie as they released their final album Supersexy Swingin’ Sounds. The recording of the album came after White Zombie announced in 1998 that they were splitting as a band. “ Hellbilly Deluxe – 13 Tales of Cadaverous Cavorting Inside the Spookshow International” is the debut solo album from Rob Zombie.
